Moscow Fashion Week will take place at the ‘Manege’ from September 26 to October 1. Ahead of the event, international experts shared what makes Russian brands appealing to global audiences and what helps them enter international markets. Among their key strengths, they highlighted a deep sense of national identity, professionalism, and distinctive design.

Jay Ishak, CEO and co-founder of MyFashionChamber (the International Fashion Chamber of Malaysia), noted that Russian designers have a deep respect for their cultural heritage while seamlessly combining it with contemporary tailoring. In her view, Moscow Fashion Week broadened her understanding of Russian culture: “I saw a creative industry that is thoughtful, proud of its heritage and serious about craftsmanship.” With the right positioning, she believes Russian brands have the potential to confidently enter the Southeast Asian market, particularly in niche premium segments.

Mahlet Teklemariam, founder of Hub of Africa Fashion Week (Ethiopia Fashion Week), highlighted the high level of expertise among Russian designers: “The collections were thoughtfully constructed, visually compelling, and clearly reflected a deep level of design maturity.” In her view, the industry is confidently forging its own aesthetic direction, giving it “a unique strength and authenticity.”

Karina Díaz Vargas, president and CEO of Costa Rica Fashion Week Forever Green, described the cultural foundation of Russian fashion as one of its fundamental strengths: “Moscow Fashion Week reinforced my perception of Russia as a culture of profound aesthetic depth and artistic sensitivity. Fashion appears as a natural extension of its history, art, and literature. I gained a deeper understanding of how Russian design dialogues with national identity while remaining contemporary, which is extremely valuable in today’s global context.” According to her, Russian fashion possesses the qualities characteristic of projects with strong international potential, while interest in collaboration from Latin America continues to grow.

International experts note that Russian brands attract the attention of global audiences through their combination of national identity, a contemporary design language, and a high level of craftsmanship. At the same time, interest in Russian fashion extends beyond individual collections, creating opportunities for professional dialogue and collaboration across international markets. Moscow Fashion Week provides a platform for this by bringing together Russian designers and members of the international fashion industry.

Moscow Fashion Week will take place at the ‘Manege’ from September 26 to October 1. The event will feature collections by Russian and international designers, as well as the Pop-Up Shop, lectures by leading industry experts, and the World Fashion Shorts film festival.
