Today, September 26, marks the official opening of Moscow Fashion Week. The event will feature over 350 designers representing 24 Russian regions and over 10 countries. Though the event has only just begun, Day 1 boasts nearly ten hours of continuous programming – ranging from student runway showcases in the afternoon to the finale show by Ianis Chamalidy at 9:00 PM.

Starting at 1:30 PM, the central hub of activity is the 'Manege,' where three runway halls are operating simultaneously. With shows scheduled nearly every 30 minutes, final designer bows in one hall seamlessly coincide with guest arrival in the next.

Emerging designers lead off the runway schedule, starting with a joint showcase by Universal University and the British Higher School of Art and Design, followed by the Academy of Branding and Design ‘Metrics’. Education is a major focus this season: student shows will continue over the coming days, complemented on September 27 by a dedicated lecture program on fashion careers.

At 2:30 PM, the lineup turns to regional talent. Tatiana Kotova from Chelyabinsk leads the showcase, followed by Stas Lopatkin from St. Petersburg at 4:30 PM, Inniki from Yakutia at 8:00 PM, and Ianis Chamalidy—also from St. Petersburg—closing the night at 9:00 PM. Featured alongside them throughout the schedule are Moscow labels such as ММÉ, Surovaya, Atelier Duo, and Atelier Irina Vorobyeva.

The event's geographic footprint extends far beyond the runway list. Moscow Fashion Week received 1,047 applications from 63 Russian regions this season, with nearly half coming from debut brands – including first-time applicants from Alushta, Veliky Ustyug, Iskitim, and Abakan.

At 5:00 PM, the program introduces a special feature: the Version 185 | Sber show in Hall No. 1, a key standalone project for the opening day. At 7:00 PM, the two main halls will merge to host the highly anticipated Slava Zaitsev fashion show.

Another highlight is the AI Virtual Fitting Room by GigaChat, marking a new milestone where artificial intelligence evolves from a utility into a co-creator. Integrated into the Giga-Art competition, the project brings together digital heritage — fairytale imagery reinterpreted via GigaChat—and runway fashion, showcased through physical collections at the 'Russian Fairy Tales' show. The result is an interactive experience allowing guests to become the main characters of their own fashion story.

Alongside the continuous runway schedule, the 'Manege' accommodates several concurrent activity zones. Level -2 houses a Pop-Up Shop showcasing garments, footwear, and accessories from nearly 100 Russian labels. Guests can explore the space between runway presentations, with public entry open free of charge via prior website registration. The initiative is co-organized by the 'Made in Moscow' project

In parallel, the Moscow Fashion Week Lecture Series is now underway. The agenda highlights key industry topics, from education and technology to new career opportunities. Participating speakers range from 'Made in Moscow' entrepreneurs and guest experts to top design institutions and their celebrated graduates. Highlights include a dedicated theme day curated by media brand ÖMANKÖ, as well as contributions from the Istok Culture Center and industry representatives.

The ‘Manege’ is just one stop on this season's itinerary. Across six days, Moscow Fashion Week will span nearly 15 venues across the city, including the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, the Petrovsky Travel Palace, and the Center for National Equestrian Traditions at VDNH. Tomorrow, the schedule expands to include World Fashion Shorts at the Vnutri Digital Art Center inside the Khlebozavod No. 9 creative quarter, screening 56 short films by directors from countries including Indonesia, China, and Türkiye.

The schedule will only grow busier in the coming days. Over 350 Russian and international designers have confirmed their participation this season, with international talent arriving from China, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, India, Kenya, Belarus, Sri Lanka, Nicaragua, Spain, the USA, and other nations.

For now, the spotlight remains on Day 1: three halls operating back-to-back, student talent alongside established fashion houses, and designers from Chelyabinsk, Yakutsk, and St. Petersburg sharing the same stage. Moscow Fashion Week is officially underway and runs through October 1. The full schedule, runway line-ups, and open event registration are available at moscowfashion.ru.

From September 28 to 30, the international program continues at Zaryadye Concert Hall with the BRICS+ Fashion Summit – a major global fashion business forum of fast-growing economies. Bringing together industry experts from over 60 nations, including Brazil, South Africa, Vietnam, and Morocco, the Summit will address market dynamics, local brand development, investment strategies, artisanal craft preservation, and artificial intelligence in fashion. Registration is open on the official website.
