As autumn descends upon the capital, the third Moscow Fashion Week is set to take center stage. From October 4th to 9th, the city will buzz with fashion shows, and even before the first runway strut, you can start preparing for the cooler weather. This autumn promises a blend of classic styles, daring combinations, and a touch of retro flair.

To get you inspired, fashion expert Aleksey Suharev and Tatyana Nikeitseva, stylist, lecturer at the British Higher School of Art and Design and founder of the PERSONAL STYLING project, share their insights on the biggest trends for the season ahead of upcoming Moscow Fashion Week.

Color Palette

Pantone's Peach Fuzz – a soft, warm, and airy shade reminiscent of ripe peaches – continues to reign as the color of the year. Fashion experts Aleksey Suharev and Tatyana Nikeitseva advise embracing variations of pastels, like soft pink, cream, and butter yellow, to create a gentle, sophisticated look. Contrasting accents in cherry red or brown add a touch of drama. For a bolder statement, Aleksey Suharev recommends exploring the rich shades of dark purple, red wine, and burgundy.

Cuts and Aestehetics

This autumn, fashion finds inspiration in architecture, infusing classic pieces with sharp lines and structural elements. Outerwear takes on a sophisticated edge with elegant capes and long coats, while cardigans emerge as a key element in autumnal outfits.

“Cardigans and sets featuring cardigans have been on the rise for a few seasons now,” Tatyana Nikeitseva explains. “Their popularity will only continue to grow, with a wide range of styles in length, color, and cut.”

A wave of 60s nostalgia is washing over the catwalks, bringing back iconic shapes and color combinations. The classic office look remains a timeless favorite, with tailored pantsuits continuing to be a staple.

"Pantsuits are incredibly popular and show no signs of going out of style," observes Aleksey Suharev. "The Retro Sports trend is also gaining momentum, encompassing tennis and golf aesthetics. The 'Old Money' look, popular a few years ago, has evolved into a vintage sports aesthetic. We should also highlight the emerging Western trend, featuring lots of frills, ruffles, leather, and cowboy boots."

Fabric and Prints

Animal prints, both vibrant and monochrome, remain a dominant trend. Beyond the classic leopard and python, zebra and cow prints are emerging as fresh and fashionable choices. While animal prints dominated clothing last season, they're now making their mark on accessories.

Layering is back, but this time it's all about lightweight and airy fabrics.Translucent fabrics add a touch of sophistication to classic, casual, romantic, and even country looks.

“Transparent fabrics are here to stay,” says Tatyana Nikeitseva. “They'll be used as a second layer in autumn and winter outfits. Fashionistas will be able to carry their summer favorites into the next season.”

Moscow Fashion Week will be held from October 4th to 9th at the Central Exhibition Hall ‘Manege’. Attendees will enjoy Fashion shows, an open Market, an International showroom, a Lecture hall, and the World Fashion Shorts film festival. Registration for the Market and Lecture hall will be available on the official website closer to the event.

Moscow Fashion Week is organized by the Fashion Fund with support of the Moscow Government.
