It’s the perfect time to start preparing for the warmer weather. This spring and summer will feature fresh takes on retro styles, unusual combinations, and timeless classics, including layering and eclecticism. To help you get ready, leading up to the event, stylist and Professor of Fashion at the HSE School of Design, Vasilisa Gamaleya-Gusarova, along with costume designer and stylist Anastasia Solomeina, have shared their insights on the key trends for the upcoming seasons.
Fabric AccentsVasilisa Gamaleya-Gusarova suggests focusing on materials like tulle, chiffon, organza, lace, and sheer silk in both women's and men's collections.
"Spring brings in new styles crafted from the delicate fabrics to replace the winter total-leather looks, creating the illusion of mist, clouds, fog, or even wet fabric," Vasilisa Gamaleya-Gusarova shared.
Layering continues to be a prominent trend in the fashion industry. Vasilisa Gamaleya-Gusarova recommends mixing skirts, pants, or shorts in a single outfit, either as standalone pieces or layered on top of each other for a textured ensemble.
Trend for topsStylists Anastasia Solomeina and Vasilisa Gamaleya-Gusarova stress the importance of having a diverse array of tops in your wardrobe for the warm months. This season, knitted, synthetic, leather, sporty, satin, sheer, sequined tops - all styles are in vogue. Anastasia particularly highlights the refined appeal of satin tops:
"The more your cut resembles historical styles, the more you align with the peak of current fashion," she suggests.
Eclectic stylesThe sporty chic style is reaching new heights, according to Vasilisa Gamaleya-Gusarova. She points out that sportswear is becoming a key feature in the wardrobes of fashion enthusiasts this season. The stylist suggests combining nylon anoraks with evening attire, like long skirts or classic tailored shorts.
Anastasia Solomeina emphasizes the importance of eclecticism when putting together outfits. She encourages blending diverse style influences to achieve a harmonious look:
"Whether you're wearing your dad's leather jacket, your mom's vintage evening dress, or a modern, ultra-trendy handbag paired with sleek stiletto heels - mix and match elements from different eras to keep your style fresh and contemporary," advises Anastasia Solomeina.
